Single-Point WASP MOLLE adapter

$14.95

Developed with Giles Stock to extend the functionality of the Single-Point® Sling system, the Single-Point Quick-Detach (SPQD) adapter adds the ability to clip into or out of the weapon for vehicle transport or weapons-rack storage. A second SPQD added to the front sling swivel allows the Single-Point to immediately convert to a 2-point carry sling without removing it from the body.

Black Coyote Ranger

An SPQD is required for use with the Single-Point Sling.

Description

WASP and Single-Point Sling working in the prone.Originally conceived by U.S. Army Ranger Ryan Cleckner (1/75 Ranger Battalion) during operations in Afghanistan where existing solutions proved inadequate, the WASP (Wilderness Adapter, Single-Point) attaches directly to the PALS webbing bars on milspec MOLLE-compatible equipment. Working with Single-Point Sling developers Giles Stock and Wilderness president Ralph Holzhaus, Cleckner evolved a solution to simplify connecting and disconnecting a rifle from a plate carrier.

The WASP uses a single strap design to prevent interference with PID/IFF panels and allow breachers to mount one on each side of their chest. We recommend passing it through two levels of PALS webbing bars for security. It integrates with our weapon-mounted Giles Single-Point QD Adapter (SPQD – *required for proper usage; available separately or as an option with the WASP), which is weapons rack compatible. We’ve kept it simple, functional, and as tough as possible.

Adjustable for length. The WASP is available in Black, Coyote, and Ranger.

Benefits

  • All the benefits of the proven Wilderness Single-Point Sling. Allows full support-side usage, giving you the freedom to enage the enemy at any angle.
  • Same premium nylon webbing and custom-made reinforced buckles used in our Single-Point and Giles Tactical Slings.
  • Easier on the neck than conventional slings while wearing body armor.
  • Minimalist design does not interfere with equipment on the front and back of the vest, allowing better operator access to magazines, grenades, flares, radio, and wearing of packs or hydration systems.
  • Eliminates the difficulty of getting into a sling while wearing a helmet and NVGs/NODs.
  • Easier to orient the weapon muzzle-down for safety while seated in rotary-wing aircraft; easier to aim the weapon out of vehicles while seated with your dominant side outboard.
  • Lets the weapon be instantly unclipped when it makes sense to have it detached from your body and gear.
  • Easy to throw over the shoulder for “chow slung” position when eating, using the restroom or other administrative tasks.
  • Replaces improvised systems with unsafe carabiners, which have been known to accidentally cut static lines.

Top quality materials

webbing colorsLike all Wilderness Tactical products, this sling is manufactured at our Phoenix, Arizona facility to exceptionally high standards of design and construction from the best materials available. It is made of 1.25″ extra-heavy nylon webbing (supports weight much better than 1″) and our custom extra-heavy duty black non-glare Delrin hardware. We make every effort to use buckles and attachments that are unlikely to make noise or reflect light.

Our premium webbing is much more dense and rigid than typical cheap webbing. It is custom-made to our standards for rigidity, vertical cross-grain structure and durability. It has no resin (which many manufacturers use to initially stiffen webbing) which can break down or change in use. While perhaps not as comfortable as soft webbing, professional users have stressed to us repeatedly that utility and durability matter most. Our webbing holds its form well, unlike soft, wide webbing which tends to roll up into a rope-like shape with extended use. The stiffness also makes getting into or out of the sling easier. It holds up much better under rough, sandy field conditions that eat soft, shapeless webbing over time.

As always, connections are multi-stitched and backstitched using proven rescue-industry stitch patterns, and a polyester blend thread is used instead of nylon which degrades more quickly under UV exposure. We pay more to use the best materials, and choose to use the most appropriate materials for each component, but we don’t think you would want it any other way.
