Single-Point Sling

$35.00

The original Wilderness Single-Point Sling* (Patent US D462,513 S**) is focused primarily on CQB and vehicle-mounted operations. Originally designed with legendary Gunsite instructor and SWAT trainer Giles Stock for Special Mission Units, the Single-Point Sling works best on shorter, lighter weapons intended for these environments. It offers great freedom of movement in confined spaces, and on-demand ambidextrous use. It allows full support-side shouldering and shooting for tactical cornering, as well as hands-free transitioning to the sidearm or for administrative tasks.

Black Coyote Ranger

The SPQD adapter stays attached to the weapon, while the Single-Point Sling becomes part of the operator’s gear. When you want to carry the weapon, simply clip in and move out. Keeping an adapter on each of your weapons lets you choose whichever one your mission dictates. The Giles SPQD also allows the sling to be worn more snugly, resulting in better stability of the system. SWAT armorers find the weapons fit their storage racks more conveniently, operators get to keep their slings sized specifically for them, and citizens find they have redeemed some of the space in their gunsafes formerly taken up by sling material.

Note that the WASP requires an SPQD (Single-Point Quick Detach) weapon-mount adapter (available in the options above) on the gun to function unless you are using a snaphook version and clipping directly onto an attachment point on the weapon.

Description

Single-Point SlingThe original Wilderness Single-Point Sling* (Patent US D462,513 S**) is focused primarily on CQB and vehicle-mounted operations.

  • Fits any weapon-system with an attachment point for a sling swivel, snaphook, or a 1-1/4″ sling slot, near the rear of the receiver.
  • A large 1-1/4″ side-release emergency release buckle is standard; it is stronger than 1″ and easier to release under stress.
  • Available colors include Black, Coyote, or Ranger.
  • Ambidextrous.
  • The optional Single-Point Quick-Detach (SPQD) adapter adds the ability to clip into or out of the weapon for vehicle transport or weapons-rack storage. A second SPQD added to the front sling swivel allows the Single-Point to immediately convert to a 2-point carry sling without removing it from the body.
  • Rounding out the family of accessories is the Single-Point WASP (Wilderness Adapter, Single-Point) designed to interface with the military MOLLE modular system on many vests and plate carriers. Simple and robust like our other products, the WASP stays attached to the PALS webbing bars on your vest. The SPQD adapter on your weapon (available separately) clips into the WASP. This allows you to seamlessly transition between using a standard Single-Point Sling body for rear areas to the Single-Point WASP when donning your armor for hot zones.

Top quality materials

webbing colorsLike all Wilderness Tactical products, this sling is manufactured at our Phoenix, Arizona facility to exceptionally high standards of design and construction from the best materials available. It is made of 1.25″ extra-heavy nylon webbing (supports weight much better than 1″) and our custom extra-heavy duty black non-glare Delrin hardware. We make every effort to use buckles and attachments that are unlikely to make noise or reflect light.

Our premium webbing is much more dense and rigid than typical cheap webbing. It is custom-made to our standards for rigidity, vertical cross-grain structure and durability. It has no resin (which many manufacturers use to initially stiffen webbing) which can break down or change in use. While perhaps not as comfortable as soft webbing, professional users have stressed to us repeatedly that utility and durability matter most. Our webbing holds its form well, unlike soft, wide webbing which tends to roll up into a rope-like shape with extended use. The stiffness also makes getting into or out of the sling easier. It holds up much better under rough, sandy field conditions that eat soft, shapeless webbing over time.

As always, connections are multi-stitched and backstitched using proven rescue-industry stitch patterns, and a polyester blend thread is used instead of nylon which degrades more quickly under UV exposure. We pay more to use the best materials, and choose to use the most appropriate materials for each component, but we don’t think you would want it any other way.
